To permanently paint silicone, silicone paint must be used. Nothing else sticks. SILICONE PAINT = SILICONE + PIGMENT Making silicone paint is easy. Silicone is colored with pigments to make a flexible rubber paint. Use up to 5% pigment for full color effect, to 0.5% or less for translucent effects. By volume: 1 or 2 pea sized blobs to a golf ball size blob of silicone for strong coloration, down to 1/4 pea size blob for translucent effects.
Pigment Dispersions are silicone-safe pigments dispersed in a silicone fluid. These are best for coloring large amounts of silicone, large batches of paint and delicate washes. Liquid Dispersions are easiest to use, and mix right into liquid silicone.
SILICONE PAINT BASE Use either a translucent 2- Part silicone or a translucent 1-Part silicone (like silicone caulking), sometimes called ‘clear’.
Smooth-On Psycho Paint, Dragon Skin 10, Polytek Platsil Gel 10, and Silicone Art Materials SAM-32 are popular.
